- Since November 2020, Poutama has been helping to deliver $4.6 million to Māori SMEs/businesses. So far, we’ve delivered funding to 41 regionally-based Māori SMEs/businesses totalling $2.97 million – in the form of grants between $15-100k. This equates to an average grant allocation of $72k with a PGF co-contribution of 62%.
- Approved PGF applications come from a cross-section of the economy: with 46% allocated to construction businesses; 10% agriculture; 10% food & beverage; 10% forestry; 7% trades; 7% manufacturing; 3% health & beauty; 3% fishing; 2% transport & 2% retail.
- Forecasted employment generated from these successful applications is 128 jobs. The PAYE generated from (new job creation) means the programme will achieve full payback over the short-term.
- Examples of regionally-based Māori SMEs/businesses supported with PGF funding include: Baywide Scaffolding (Kaikohe); Peppers Building supplies (Edgecumbe); Taniwha Oysters (Kaitaia); Concretes Doctors (Otaki); Makov Enterprises (Murupara); Ruatoria Pies (Ruatoria); Otoki Orchard (Wairoa) & KBR Services (Waitara).
