Aotearoa Breweries award winning MATA beers are brewed in a craft brewery in Kawerau, Eastern Bay of Plenty. A family run business that is passionate about brewing Kiwi beers with unique New Zealand flavours. All MATA premium handcrafted beers are genuinely pure and natural with no preservatives, additives or finings used. Brewed with malt from New Zealand, Britain and Germany, yeast sourced from the USA and New Zealand hops. MATA beers are brewed using 100% pure artesian water sourced specially from a local aquifer and transported 16 kilometres to the brewery.

Product Range

MATA Manuka (5% alc/vol)
Gold medal and class winner, MATA Manuka is a smooth, clean tasting golden coloured ale edged with a hint of N.Z’s native Manuka honey. The addition of aromatic Manuka honey prior to fermentation gives this beer its distinctive herbal notes, a very smooth and well rounded mouth-feel and a slight residual sweetness. MATA Manuka matches well with seafood dishes or salamis and is a perfect beer for fish or seafood batter.

MATA Artesian (5% alc/vol)
The nine-time award winning MATA Artesian is a German style Kolsch with a Kiwi twist. Named after the source of water all MATA beers are brewed with, this beer is a crisp and refreshing light bodied lager, with medium bitterness, gentle carbonation and delicate malt flavour. MATA Artesian is well suited to red meat, chicken, pork or fish, particularly smoky or spicy dishes. It would be difficult to find a better partner with delicate fish as MATA Artesian will not overpower and a terrific partner with all salad combinations.

MATA Brown Boy (5% alc/vol)
Medal winning MATA Brown Boy is a luscious full flavoured amber ale that pours a striking reddish brown. The specialty 4 malt blend brings caramel, toffee-like, malty characteristics balanced by refreshing hop flavour and aroma, medium bitterness, and a dash of pepper from NZ’s indigenous horopito. Kiwi magic! MATA Brown Boy is great with the typical kiwi barbeque or roast, burgers, pizza and really spicy meals such as Mexican or Thai. Steak, chicken and lamb all work well with this beer.

MATA Feijoa (5% alc/vol) Ι Seasonal Fruit Beer
Medal winning MATA Feijoa is a palate cleansing, zesty fruit beer that bursts with the unique and distinctive taste and aroma of fresh NZ grown Feijoas. Relax and quench your thirst with this very refreshing champagne of beers. MATA Feijoa will compliment your favourite soft creamy cheese and crackers or antipasto. Yummy match to prawns dressed in lemon or lime, or for dessert with banana cake and fresh cream.

MATA Blondie (5% alc/vol)
MATA Blondie is a refreshing, cloudy Belgian style wheat beer brewed with a specially selected Belgian yeast strain. Mouth-watering aromas and flavours of coriander and citrus are evident along with the addition of a secret indigenous NZ spice. A fantastic food match with your favourite bowl of mussels, or with salads, sushi and sashimi, any fish, omelettes, bacon and eggs or grilled open sandwiches.

MATA Black Bru (5% alc/vol) Ι Seasonal Dark Ale
MATA Black Bru pours a rich creamy head settling to black with a deep red hue. This very drinkable Irish style stout is full of alluring flavours and aromas of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley, which linger with every mouthful. Lace your hearty beef stew with MATA Black Bru, then enjoy one with your meal. If in the mood for your favourite slice of chocolate cake or dessert this beer will make a perfect match.

MATA Taniwha – Limited Release (7% alc/vol)
Gold medal winner MATA Taniwha is a silky smooth full-bodied malty ale infused with smoky, earthy, barbeque notes and whiskey like character. A hangi pit is filled with malted barley, sweet kumara and potatoes to enhance the flavours and aromas of a hangi before brewing this beer. Try with a hangi meal, ham, dried meats, hamburgers, barbequed/ smoked fish, meat or vegetables, barbeque flavoured crackers or snacks, Stilton blue cheese or earthy dark chocolate.

Available in 330ml bottles and purchased as 6 x 4 packs or as a case of 24. Mata Taniwha beer is only available in a case of 24. Beers are also available in kegs.
