We offer you a brand new restructured and NZQA-approved programme for you to get into the Beekeeping Industry:
- 34 weeks training. Part time study. 2 full time days a week only. Following the beekeeping seasonal work
- Simultaneously in 2 campuses depending where you live (Windermere and Whakatane)
- Practical with theoretical base classes
- Constant support in different areas
What will you get?
After completion and approval of this learning pathway you will get a Certificate which is worth 65 credits.
When you finish and approve this Programme you will be able to…
- Work as an assistant beekeeper for a commercial operator
- Or work as an independent beekeeper with a small number of beehives (part time lifestyle option)
- Transport beehives and bee products and establish hives in new sites previously selected
- Operate beehives to produce quality products and pollination services
- Maintain and harvest beehives safe and legally accordingly to legal compliances
- Manage a safe disease and pest control plan in the apiary accordingly to legal compliances
- Work in the apiary safely to keep you and your work mates healthy
On top of it you will get:
- Your own beehive
- Your registration as beekeeper
- Your bee suit
- Your hive tool
- Your smoker
- Your honey (after harvesting from your beehive)
- 3 valuable books about beekeeping in New Zealand
- Your DECA certificate- American Foulbrood Recognition and Destruction Course (you will be trained and have to pass it. This is an extra certificate independently of this Programme. But we will help you to get there!!!)
