The Kāhui Legal team celebrated their 20th anniversary last month at Te Wharewaka o Pōneke.
Wow what an awesome achievement and celebration of being Māori! Poutama was proud to be there to acknowledge the many years of mahi and achievements of their team and alumni.
Kāhui Legal is a specialist law firm working at the forefront of Māori development with unparalleled experience and expertise in legal issues that affect Māori, and the interface between iwi and Māori organisations and the Crown, local government and other entities.
Kāhui Legal was established as a legal partnership in 2003 and co-founded by Matanuku Mahuika (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa) and Jamie Ferguson.
Their team of partners and law experts come from a range of legal backgrounds, including from the senior ranks of large corporate law firms, are recognised experts in their fields and are supported by a team of specialist solicitors.
Their alumni include those who have moved on and been appointed as District Court Judges, Māori Land Court Judges and Poutama’s previous solicitor, Kiri Tahana who is now a High Court Judge.
Their goal is to provide specialist legal services of the highest quality that advance the Māori economy and the future wellbeing of Māori. They are driven to ensure their clients receive the very best advice and achieve their desired outcomes.
