Jared Leith – Ngāti Raukawa
Taktix Films is a video production company based in Kirikiriroa owned and operated by Jared Leith. They began in 2009 and have been operating ever since.
Taktix offer end to end video production services including scripting, filming, post production editing and animation services. They have experience in the broadcast sector making TV shows and documentaries for NZ TV, also working for large organisations and brands creating advertising, educational resources, promotional videos and more.
For fun, they also love to create music videos and short films, some of which have won international awards. In recent years, with the change of the media landscape, they have spent more time working alongside companies assisting them to create consistent media content for their own audiences.
Jared says, “Hamilton is a wonderful place to operate. It is central in the Waikato region and home to many big organisations. Operating in the city, we are close to many of our clients including Hamilton City Council, Waikato Regional Council and Waikato Tainui.”
“Our work is largely flexible and we can travel when needed. With the use of cloud based storage and online technology, we can work with clients across the country.”
Recent support from Poutama has helped them to invest in a mobile podcasting setup to open another service option. Jared says, “Video podcasting is a new, cost effective way of creating broadcast resources that can be used on a variety of online platforms. This allows people to create TV quality resources for a fraction of the cost and be more agile and versatile with delivery.”
“We are proud to be Māori and value our culture. Working with iwi such as Ngāpuhi and Waikato Tainui, we are able to create resources that preserve cultural knowledge for generations to come.”
“Also working on projects for Whakaata Māori is a privilege, assisting with their goals of language revitalisation by creating content that uses Te Reo Māori. Creating a space and relationships where culture is supported and celebrated is important to us.”
Jared and his team love what they do! He says, “There is nothing more exciting for us than seeing a project go from concept to completion. Being in a creative industry is tough, but we have always worked hard to not only make a way for ourselves, but support others into this industry through mentorships.”
“We care about relationships. The most important part of running a business for us is maintaining integrity and caring about the success of those we work for.”
