With over 30 years of experience in hauora and wellbeing, Jase Te Patu and his team deliver innovative, NCEA-accredited wellbeing programmes to schools across the motu.
What Do They Offer?
- 5-week & 15-week NCEA-accredited hauora courses for rangatahi and kaiako
- Professional learning for teachers
- Rangatahi-led initiatives like the Puāwai Podcast and Puāwai Summit
- Mental Health First Aid training for workplaces and schools
Being based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington keeps Hauora Aotearoa close to key agencies and networks, while their deep roots in Māori communities keep their mahi authentic and impactful. Their reach is impressive – over 800 schools, 3,000 kaiako, and thousands of rangatahi every year.
Thanks to a funding boost from Poutama, Hauora Aotearoa is expanding its online presence and supporting the production of the Puāwai Podcast—a rangatahi-led series amplifying Māori youth voices on mental health. This funding covers nearly half the costs for these vital projects, helping Hauora Aotearoa reach even more whānau, kura, and rangatahi nationwide.
Everything Hauora Aotearoa does is grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā and Māori pūrākau. Success is measured not just in numbers, but in whanaungatanga and collective wellbeing. Their vision? Live well, Learn well, Lead well.
Hauora Aotearoa is lighting the path for Māori youth wellbeing – led by rangatahi, for rangatahi, and making a real difference across Aotearoa.
