Shaun Eckhoff – Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Maniapoto, Ngāpuhi

Land Design HQ was started in 2022 by Shaun Eckhoff from his home in Ōmokoroa in the Bay of Plenty, servicing bay wide including Rotorua and parts of Waikato.

The company is a landscape design and build business specialising in outdoor spaces, green space, hardscape, softscapes, swimming pools and entertaining areas.

With over 20 years experience in the industry working for various building and landscaping businesses both in NZ and Australia, Shaun eventually studied architectural technology and decided to move home and set up his own business.

Land Design HQ has been in operation for almost 2 years with Shaun running all the day to day operations with the help of 3 employees.  They provide a range of services from paving to fencing, decking, building pools and creating outdoor play spaces including gardening and planting.

They offer their customers a one stop shop for landscaping providing all solutions from design/concept to install/build and beyond into maintenance if needed.  The Bay of Plenty construction industry continues to grow with their main clientele being mid to high end residential customers, so a steady stream of work.

Being in a face to face environment with clients, pushes Shaun to deliver a premium product and stand by it.  “I hold my workmanship to a high level and focus more on quality rather than quantity,” Shaun says.  “Recent funding from Poutama has enabled me to purchase new task specific tools and equipment that will continue to assist us with the quality of our work.”

Shaun is proud to be Māori and says, “It is 100% important to me and how I do business, my values are core to the way I run my business and the way I was raised.  I was taught to have a high work ethic and produce nothing but my best.  Also having respect for my employees and clients equally, to create a positive business/work environment for all.”

Land Design HQ are looking positively to the future and plan to branch out into Playground space, in particular for Māori providers.  They are members of the TMBA (Tauranga Māori Business Association), Amotai (a diversity supplier agency) and ArchiPro (Design and build online directory).
