Te Keepatakatakaaorangi Hone Mewett – Whakatōhea
Keepa Mewett is the sole director and employee of Mewett Media. He provides content creation services, including photography, videography, live-streaming, and podcasting. Keepa transitioned to full-time content creation, working with freelance clients and the New Zealand Rugby Union on mini-documentaries for various rugby teams.
As of 2024, Mewett Media collaborates with large businesses and elite sports teams, including the All Blacks, to produce documentaries that tell deeper stories of players and management.
Their photography, cinematography, and podcast production company aims to provide high-quality and affordable photo and video services to clients in New Zealand who are looking for professional content.
They have a passion for capturing the essence of people, places, and events – and in particular, telling stories in the fitness and sports industry.
They believe that by combining artistic talent with technical expertise, and prior experience in professional sports, they can create amazing visuals that stand out and have a lasting impact.
Keepa says, “Being close to a tourism hub in Rotorua certainly helps because of the film industry there. It is also handy to be central in the North Island with easy access to bigger cities like Auckland and Hamilton.”

Keepa says being Māori and working with Māori is important. “Being able to call on Māori support, generate work for Māori and work for Māori specific companies has been massive. We also use Māori values in our mahi and approach.”
A key to their success is their ability to listen to clients and tailor all content to the direction of the company they are working with; as opposed to a cookie-cutter approach that a lot of production companies take. We are small, so we focus on building relationships before undertaking all projects.
