From 7-8 July, Poutama participated in the 14th Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum (ANZLF) in Sydney.
The central theme was the great acceleration of trends arising from the pandemic and how Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand can emerge from global disruptions stronger together.
The Forum, was attended by 15 Ministers and over 300 business leaders and officials from both sides of the Tasman, concluded with strengthened trans-Tasman commitments including: the digital economy, supply chain resiliency, innovation and science, tourism, infrastructure, health technology, climate change, labour/skill shortages, and indigenous business.
On indigenous business, we participated in The Indigenous Sector Group co-chaired by Laura Berry and Traci Houpapa. This was an opportunity to discuss indigenous business priorities for the year ahead and share these with the Australian Minister for Indigenous Australians, The Hon Linda Burney MP and our Minister for Māori Development, Hon Willie Jackson.
In terms of priorities, there was agreement to pursue closer trans-Tasman collaboration on Indigenous business through the Australia Aotearoa NZ Indigenous Cooperation Agreement and the Indigenous Peoples Economic Trade & Cooperation Arrangement including, and not limited to, trade, innovation and technology, tourism, and women’s economic empowerment. A highlight of the event was the ANZLF Celebration Dinner on 7 July attended by both Prime Ministers. The Hon Anthony Albanese MP and Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern congratulated the four companies which won the Trans-Tasman Innovation & Growth Awards (TTIGA) for their innovative solutions to address mental health, microbial contamination, toxin-free cleaning products and making data more accessible, usable and shareable for communities.
