Empowering Whānau, One Healthy Choice at a Time
Maureen Hei Hei – Ngāpuhi
Maureen is a proud mum of five, married to Cole Lemalu, and deeply rooted in the beautiful whenua of Matauri Bay. Living just outside Kerikeri, Maureen and Cole share a passion for serving their community through mahi that truly matters.
Maureen’s journey began in hauora (health), working alongside doctors and nurses to deliver nutrition support and kai kaupapa coaching. Her mission? To help whānau move from metabolic disease to a vibrant, pain-free lifestyle—without relying on medication.
Back in 2016, Maureen launched Fundamental Force Enterprises Limited to support her fitness coaching gigs. What started as gym sessions and sports field coaching soon grew into something bigger—supporting youth development and community wellbeing.
By 2022, the business pivoted toward specialist health coaching, with a strong focus on nutrition. Maureen and Cole upskilled through PREKURE, a leading NZ organisation championing the philosophy that “lifestyle is medicine.”
Today, they deliver nutrition coaching through health centres, Māori service providers, and community health initiatives across Te Tai Tokerau.
Why It Matters?
The impact has been profound. Local communities thrive when supported by their own, and Maureen’s culturally grounded approach ensures whānau feel seen, heard, and empowered.
With Māori and Pasifika dying 10–12 years earlier than non-Māori, this mahi is not just important—it’s urgent.
What’s Next?
With support from Poutama, the team is gearing up to:
✅ Rebrand with a fresh logo and slogan
✅ Build a social media presence to reach more whānau
✅ Break down barriers faster so people can access help sooner
And the vision doesn’t stop there! Long-term, Maureen dreams of a multi-sport indoor facility in Waipapa—think netball, beach volleyball, cricket, and maybe even an indoor swim centre. Big goals for a small business with a huge heart.
