At the 2021 Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce Awards, Poutama was privileged to sponsor the Māori-Owned Business Excellence Award. Whakatōhea Mussels (Ōpōtiki) Limited, won the Award, as well as the separate Farm, Forestry & Food Excellence Award. Whakatōhea Mussels CEO, Peter Vitasovich was also acknowledged with the Business Leadership Award. Then, the evening culminated with Whakatōhea Mussels going on to win the 2021 Supreme Business of the Year Award.
Several other Poutama clients were finalists in the annual Awards, and Kohutapu Lodge & Tribal Tours won the Community Contribution Award.
This year’s Awards showed different award categories to previous years which resulted in a real diverse range of impressive business entries. It was exciting to see new businesses in the mix, alongside long-standing businesses – stalwarts of the local economy.
