Richard Te Hurinui Jones – more than 20 years at the helm

After 20 years leading Poutama Trust, Richard stepped down as Chief Executive Officer in March 2021.
Over this time, Richard has been the face of Poutama. He has been the chief architect of Poutama’s whakapapa and helped to safely navigate the Poutama waka as we invested more than $30 million in over 3,200 Māori businesses.
During this time, Richard has selflessly served not only Poutama’s clients but Māoridom, representing Poutama and taking Te Ao Māori to the world. He has travelled Aotearoa – engaging with whānau, marae, iwi, collaborators and clients.
He’s laid the foundation that ensures our Trust and the people we work with will continue to benefit for years to come.
He has been a trailblazer for Māori business, and Poutama is indebted to him for his leadership and service.
Richard is staying on as a contractor until September 2021.
