Koroninia Dickinson – new Chief Executive

Ngāti Kahungunu, Kāi Tahu & Kuki Airani

Ka pū te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi – when the old net is cast aside, the new net goes fishing.

This whakatuaki symbolises not only the old making way for the new but also embracing progress and the future.

Koro joined Poutama at the beginning of March coming from a background of international diplomacy and as a change maker within Auckland Council.  He is the next generation of leadership that takes up the mantle of leading Poutama forward into a dynamic, albeit as always, uncertain future.  It’s a future though that is underpinned by an organisation that has a solid platform that enables it to be edgy, innovative and entrepreneurial.

Koro will be leveraging his skills, ideas and experience to continue building upon what Poutama symbolises.  Important to that symbolisation is the kaupapa behind what the ubiquitous Poutama pattern represents at our tūrangawaewae.  For Poutama Trust it is to forever strive to stepping people and enterprises up to the next level.  Koro takes up the challenge wholeheartedly of moving the organisation from being evolutionary to revolutionary.

We are all aware though that this takes passion, purpose and focus.  These are all attributes that Koro brings to the role, but he cannot do it alone.  He will be ably supported by the Poutama whānau who in themselves have a range of positive attributes alongside a repertoire of relationships, networks and connections that can be leveraged.

Koro will take hold of these to help build his toolkit so that he is thus enabled to keep on iterating and innovating the Poutama kaupapa.
