Because of the seasonal hole in the ozone layer that migrates from the Antarctic pole each year and rests over the country, New Zealand produces some of the most bioactively rich and nutritionally dense produce in the world.  Research is one of the key factors in successfully marketing and selling these products in the global market.

New opportunities are often the result of unexpected associations between seemingly unrelated ideas. The association of research discoveries and business needs can be both exciting and challenging in their reduction to practice.

With this in mind, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) designed a half-day session to present some of New Zealand’s highest potential research in bioactives and related fields but also to enable the discovery of the links between this research and real business needs.

The workshop had presentations from experts and researchers in the following fields:

– Indigenous Plants and Bioactive Extracts
– Marine Bioactives
– Berries and Fruit
– Fungi
– Processing
– Antimicrobials and Biocides
– Marketing and Consumer Insights
