  • NZTE & Poutama have joined forces to consolidate a Māori Wine Coalition, IHI.  IHI is made up of seven Māori wine producers; Te Pa Wines, Steve Bird Wines, Tiki Wines, Ostler Wines, Kurukuru Wines, Stonecutter Wines and Tohu Wines.
  • Paroa Station and Poutama have kicked off a hop growing trial in Mohaka… Yes Mohaka!!  If the trial proves feasible, Paroa Station will look to grow hops and maybe even produce a fine kawakawa ale or two using Mohaka hops.

  • Poutama board have given the go ahead for investigating the establishment of Poutama Capital. Poutama Capital may well be New Zealand’s first Māori Private Equity Fund.  The fund will aim to make direct investment into Māori business.
  • Craig Ellison, has been appointed Chair of NZ Seafood Standards Council.  Affectionately known in Poutama as ‘Mr Fish’, Craig is a long timer in the seafood industry having started out in his whānau fishing company, Ōtākou Fisheries.
  • NZTE is working alongside Poutama to pull together the Māori honey sector under the NZTE coalition programme.  The programme will include strategy, brand and market development.
