Last week, the Whāriki Maori Business Network shared tips to safeguard businesses and ensure business owners are best positioned to weather any storm.  Whether you were affected or not — it’s important to have a plan in place so you are prepared if a natural disaster were to happen.

Here are some tips:

  • Have a look at your business insurances and amend where needed.
  • Put a business continuity plan in place.
  • Review your emergency plan and health and safety procedures.
  • Keep communicating with staff, and take care of yourself and your employees during this time.  If it’s not safe to work, don’t require staff to do so.
  • Right now First Steps is available for support to look after mental health and wellbeing.
  • Business owners can join the Online Business Community to receive up-to-date information or call Business Helpline on 0800 500 362.
