Stronghold Group’s journey began with Quincy Tangiau, hailing from Rarotonga, Niue and Papua New Guinea and his wife Kara from Ngāti Whātua ki Kaipara.  As business owners, they were driven from the desire to create a unique opportunity for themselves and their team.  They envisioned a working environment that understood and appreciated their cultural identities, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment.

The company’s track record of successful project delivery, and their dedication to upholding the values and principles of kaupapa Māori, set them apart in the industry.  They have a proven ability to deliver high-quality construction solutions while prioritising cultural sensitivity, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

As a dynamic and innovative company, Stronghold Group is fully committed to delivering construction solutions of the highest quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

Their focus is not just on business success but also on empowering their team of predominantly Māori and Pacific staff.  By providing a supportive and nurturing work environment, Quincy and his wife aimed to create opportunities for the people that they engage to thrive, through upskilling, training and development.

Stronghold Group have apprentices who have completed their training, honed their skills and are now working as site foremans and/or running their own businesses.  Some have gone on to other industry qualifications such as Quantity Surveying and Project Management.

Their aim is to become a trusted leader in the industry by consistently exceeding client expectations.  With a comprehensive range of services encompassing residential, commercial, and industrial projects, they have the flexibility to meet the unique needs and specifications of their diverse customers.

“The funding from Poutama will significantly benefit our business by enhancing our online presence, expanding marketing efforts, improving customer experience, fostering innovation and competitiveness, enabling potential business expansion, and ensuring long-term sustainability.  We are grateful for the trust’s support and look forward to making the most of this opportunity to grow and succeed”, says Kara.

“Being Māori shapes our company’s culture and values, influencing our decisions, actions, and interactions with others.  It allows us to infuse our business with a strong sense of purpose, authenticity, and cultural pride, creating a positive and meaningful impact on our team, customers, and community”.
